Rubix Acquires Hydraulics Specialists in France and Germany

Rubix has acquired three specialist industrial distributors in France and Germany as it continues to expand its European maintenance, repair and operations network.

The company announced the acquisitions of Cophyma, Cophyma 38 and PTS Group on 2 October. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Cophyma and Cophyma 38 specialise in the maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems. The businesses are based in Taluyers and Vourey in the Rhône-Alpes region and will join the Systèmes Technical Centre led by David Berland.

Rubix said the deal gives customers in south-east France greater access to hydraulic maintenance, repair and technical support. Cophyma founder and managing director Bernard Motte will assist with the transition over the coming months.

They know their customers well and bring real hydraulics expertise and a strong local reputation to the Group, Rubix France CEO Alexandre Labasse said.

The acquisitions follow Rubix’s purchase of French industrial distributor and hydraulics specialist Thomé in July. Rubix said it is building a national hydraulics network capable of supporting manufacturers across France.

In Germany, Rubix has acquired PTS Group, a specialist distributor established in 2007 and based near Düsseldorf in the Rhine-Ruhr industrial region.

PTS supplies hydraulics, pneumatics, valve technology, process technology, power transmission and motion technology. The company also provides in-house control-panel assembly and hydraulic and pneumatic repair services.

Rubix said PTS will strengthen its fluid-power and flow-technology offering in Germany and across the wider DACH region.

The company has not disclosed whether the acquired businesses will retain their brands or how their systems, customer accounts and digital channels will be integrated.

The deals come shortly after Rubix created the position of Group Chief Digital and AI Officer. Bart Delmulle started in the role on 1 September, reporting to Group CEO David Morkeberg and joining the executive board and management committee.

Delmulle is responsible for Rubix’s AI programme and the development and performance of its digital offer. Rubix said the AI programme will focus on helping employees provide better customer service and supporting the company’s continued growth.

Rubix has not publicly connected Delmulle’s appointment with the latest acquisitions. However, the expanded network gives the group additional product information, technical knowledge, service capabilities and customer relationships to manage across its European operations.

The immediate result of the transactions is greater specialist coverage in France and Germany. Their wider value will become clearer as Rubix sets out how the acquired capabilities will be made available through its broader sales, service and digital operations.
